Roel is the founder and creative director of Conci, moving between storytelling, direction and cinematography. His path into film did not begin with a business plan: It began in Vienna, where an international film competition led him to Prague Film School and, not long after, a commercial shoot in Beijing and Shanghai.
Since then, he has worked from Amsterdam and now Leuven, on different kinds of formats and brands, such as Amazon, Parc Hyatt and Fairtrade Belgium. What connects the work is the part that happens before the shoot: finding the idea underneath the brief, deciding what the audience should feel and building the right visual language around it.
Before the camera comes out, Roel looks for the idea underneath the brief: what the film should say, how it should feel and what deserves to stay.
More than a decade of collaboration with Tribù, KU Leuven, Edgard & Cooper, … has shaped a continuity: the creation of a visual language for a brand.
Through Belgian Video Creators and Young Creators Leuven, Roel creates opportunities for young creatives to meet, share experiences and get inspired.
